Rum River Lumber

About Us

Built on the banks of the Rum River in Downtown Anoka, our founders opened the doors of Rum River Lumber Company in 1908.

Owned by the DeLong family for three generations, and now the Berglin family for two generations, Rum River Lumber has served the Twin Cities area as a locally owned, family-run business for 100 years.

Rum River Lumber, now located in Coon Rapids, has supported construction booms and fought through hardships to remain a cornerstone in the northern suburbs.
During the 1930’s economic depression, as the building industry declined, coal became the mainstay of the lumberyard.
Starting with our humble beginnings, the ability to change and adapt to customer needs has fueled the company’s growth.

In 1973, a disastrous fire destroyed inventory and caused an estimated $1.3 million in damages to the Anoka facility. Despite tremendous economic and business challenges, the DeLong family successfully rebuilt Rum River Lumber into the market leader.

In 2000, the Anoka facility was relocated to Coon Rapids. In 2008, Rum River Lumber moved to its new location in Ham Lake in order to better support customer needs. The new site provides ample covered storage space in the yard, easy access via Highway 65 and convenient customer parking.

As Rum River Lumber Company celebrates its 100-year milestone, the Berglin family and our employees remain committed to maintaining Rum River Lumber’s market leadership position for the next century.
